Samosa is the best Indian snack. I don’t think there are two opinions on this. And the Punjabi Samosa Indian recipe is one of our house favorites. If you thought that making samosa was a long process, let me tell you that this is an easy way to make the best Punjabi samosa at home.

I will show you step by step how to make Samosa dough or Samosa sheet and of course the Aloo Samosa filling.

I love samosa and tea and I can’t resist a good samosa no matter the time of day. Punjabi samosas are just the best! Because that’s what I ate when I was a kid. You might forget that the simple pleasure of eating the students is the samosas, soaked in a reddish tamarind chutney, infused with this masala tea and the gossip…. I just can’t. Those were the best days of my life.

We can’t revive those days, but we can always make a better Samosa!

So, let’s talk about this homemade Punjabi samosas recipe. I often make these samosas from pre-formed leaves. If you want to eat homemade samosa and want an easy samosa recipe that takes less time. You make Punjabi samosa at home with samosa cake or samosa dough sheet.

If you can make your own samosa paste, don’t. I usually make my own samosa paste. If you want to make authentic Punjabi samsa with batter and potato filling, I have written everything I could about the traditional Indian recipe for Punjabi samsa. I also shared a recipe for baked samosas, which is a healthy samosa that contains almost very little butter.

Punjab samosa filling

The filling of samosas is an important part of making samosas. Punjabi samosa filling is made from aloo, matar and simple spices usually found in the kitchen.

Real Punjabi samosa filling does not use onions or garlic. But if you like the taste of garlic or onions, you can add them to the samosa topping. You can make the aloo filling as consistent as you like. Sometimes I like to add small cubes of paneer. If you want, you can add a plate to the filling.

Can you make fried samosas?

Yes! Samosas can be cooked. The traditional recipe for samosas is deep frying. But people with health problems are trying to make fried samosas. As part of the Fit Foodie panel, I made a whole wheat samsa recipe with chef Vikas Hanna.

You can check out my recipe for baked samosas, or just refer to the instructions at the end of this recipe. One thing I have to admit: baked samosas are always a little drier than fried samosas. But it saves a lot of calories

Can you prepare a deep fried samosa?

The deep fryer has made life so much easier and guilt-free for us food lovers. You can definitely make fried samosas. As you can see from the picture of the samosas below. The crust is a bit different from the deep fried samosas in the photo above. But the samosa from the fryer tastes absolutely delicious too. A perfect crispy crust and a Punjabi aloo! The best of two words.

How to prepare a samosa in advance?

You can prepare the samosa in advance and keep it in the refrigerator. You can prepare the samosa recipe until the samosa is folded and cooled. The question now is how long will these samosas last? Samosa can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 weeks and in the refrigerator for up to 6-8 hours.

If you make a small samosa, you can serve it as an appetizer or as a snack. It’s called a samosa cocktail. You can serve samosa with green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney. Samosas with tomato ketchup or red pepper sauce are also delicious if you’re lazy.

How to serve Samosas

I used to serve Punjabi samosas as a combination of samosas. You can prepare samosa chaat with curd, sweet tamarind chutney, green chutney and spices that will surprise the family.

If you don’t want to wait after preparing the samosas, just serve them with tomato ketchup or green chutney…. they are always delicious!

Instructions

Punjabi Samosa Aloo Filling

  • To begin self-filling, heat the oil in the pan.
  • Add cumin seeds, ground ginger, green chillies and coriander. Fry it for a minute and add a tablespoon of water when it starts to burn.
  • Now add the coriander powder and panipurimasala to the pan and stir.
  • Season with salt and red pepper and add the cooked potatoes. Mix well and set this filling aside to cool.
  • When the filling is cold, place a large spoonful of the aloo filling on the samosa leaf.
  • Fold the samosa leaves as shown in the samosa folding video, and prepare all the samosa leaves in the same way.

  • Place deep-frying oil in a frying pan and bring to the smoking point.
  • Lower the heat and drop the cooked samosas into the hot oil after 2 minutes. Fry the samosas on low heat until golden brown.

Notes and tips for recipes

Now there are two methods, one is to deep fry the samosas and the other is to fry them in the open in a microwave oven. I have shown both methods in a video.
Notes
If you don’t have a microwave fryer function in the fine setting, you can use a regular fryer (I don’t use one because my microwave has all these functions, and I don’t want to clutter up my countertop unnecessarily)
I think the most important thing to keep is a multipurpose gadget, It may not be a lot of money, but when you add up the amount you pay for many different gadgets, it’s much less, and you have less clutter on the counter.
