This cheese sauce has all the flavors of pizza – tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni – in a sticky, gooey masterpiece that no one can resist.

One of the best and most irresistible pizza appetizers you can make for any occasion is a delicious baked pizza sauce. If you put it on the table, it will disappear almost immediately. At least, that’s what I’ve always found.

You can smell the baked goods, and when the heavenly smell of pizza begins to fill the house, all the hungry people gather around the oven to wait for it. This is one of those sauces you need in your life.

It’s a tasty snack for race days or with beer. It can also be paired with a rich red wine for a warm and satisfying afternoon.

How to make fried pizza dip

This is a super easy recipe that only takes a few minutes to mix and another few minutes to cook.

Before preheating the oven, make sure the broiler is about 5 inches away from the heating element. If the pan is too high or too low, the cheese will not cook evenly and will become too oily or burn on the top.

Now you can fire up the grill.

Mix all ingredients in a bowl. They’re the usual suspects from the pizzeria:

  • Pizza sauce
  • grated mozzarella cheese
  • grated cheddar
  • Hot peppers
  • Cream cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt (you may not need salt, but I like to sprinkle it on).

Pour the mixture evenly into a large cast iron skillet or frying pan. An 8×8″ or 9×13″ casserole works well. You must use a bowl from which to serve, as it is not ideal to siphon the dip into another serving dish.

Place the pan under the grill for about 6 minutes. After a few minutes, the cheese becomes bubbly and begins to brown. Then you know it’s over!

Serve the mug immediately, as the cheese will harden as it cools. I like to serve it with slices of baguette or chips. You can also serve it with vegetable sticks if you like. There are no rules with pizza!

  • 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of pizza sauce
  • 4 ounces ground hot peppers
  • 3 ounces cream cheese
  • Garlic powder
  • 1 bag of baguette, cut into slices


  1. Place the grill grate about 5 inches from the heating element of the grill. Turn on the grill.
  2. In a bowl, mix all ingredients.
  3. Pour evenly into a large cast iron skillet or stew pot.
  4. Place the pan under the broiler for about 6 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and starting to brown.
  5. Serve immediately with slices of baguette.


  • You can replace the pizza sauce with canned tomatoes (drained) or use fresh tomatoes if you prefer.
