I have been to my fair share of burger joints, and I have come to the conclusion that the American Burger King is the best. So, I was quite interested in trying the Spicy King, which is Burger King’s new spicy chicken sandwich. I like spicy foods, so I was expecting this to be good. It did not disappoint me.
Burger King has been coming out with some interesting items lately. This time the brand has come out with a spicy chicken sandwich. Named the Spicy Ch’King Sandwich, the sandwich consists of a deep-fried spicy chicken patty, mayonnaise, shredded lettuce, and spicy sauce. The sandwich is offered by Burger King along with a side of fries for a reasonable price of 105 pesos.
It seems like the only way to get Burger King to accept my review request is to order a bunch of them, which doesn’t make sense when you think about it. I mean, I’m not going to order one because I’m super pumped about it, but I would probably check it out if they brought it to the local Burger King. Burger King describes its new Ch’King sandwiches as follows: Each contains fresh, hand-fried chicken breasts that should be crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Although Burger King’s new hand-roasted chicken sandwich is a little late, it’s been gaining popularity on Tik Tok lately, with posters praising its size and spiciness. After a good test, Burger King recently introduced the sandwich nationwide, changing the common name to the questionable Ch’King sandwich. The industry has not yet developed a standard recipe for a spicy sandwich: Some people cook the spices by sprinkling them on, others just add them to the sauce on the brisket. Burger King’s solution is to dip the entire brisket in the glaze to get the full flavor. I can’t remember anything like this happening in the fast food industry since Wendy’s famous Flavor Dips at the turn of the last century. Burger King has been offering Spicy Chicken and Tendercrisp sandwiches for some time now, but the revamped sandwiches (and others) reportedly resemble a hand breaded sandwich filling that neither tastes nor looks like it. 
In these almost post-pandemic times, the metal insulated paper bag industry must be booming. These packets cover just about every chicken sandwich in about 5-6 restaurants. I’m waiting for a report on the deficit. At one point I could have collected them and made a t-shirt out of them, but I think that would have made me look like a degenerate. 
When I opened the sandwich, I was immediately a little bummed that the size of the sandwich was more normal than large, not as big as a size 9 bowling ball as I expected based on the information on social media. Take a look at this Tik Tok link. Despite the questionable difference in size, Sandwich had all the other exciting qualities that catapulted the genre to the forefront of the modern era. With its unique shape and crunch, this frosted boy caught my eye. 
When the chicken breast is completely covered in glaze, it’s sometimes easy to forget the rest of the ingredients. The potato roll on this sandwich, with its usual dripping sauce and uneven layer of dill chips, was crumpled but not broken. After being doused with sauce and glaze, the fast food customer can only hope and pray that the sandwich doesn’t turn into a disgusting, soft sponge. In this case, that didn’t happen, and I was very impressed that the glaze on the chicken was completely covered, but not so soggy that it dripped. 
The sandwich tasted very good. The chicken was super textured and crispy. I was very impressed with the ratio of glaze to crispness, even though the chicken was completely soggy. The glaze reminded me of a pseudo-Nashville hot sauce, with scorching heat and a hint of sweet brown sugar. The signature sauce was a pretty solid classic chicken sauce, but maybe a little runny and not as thick as I would have liked. The cucumbers gave the desired crunch and flavor, but didn’t stand out. Burger King’s spicy Ch’King sandwich is very similar to KFC’s new offering, in my opinion. Big and fat, crunchy and crumbly, the biggest differences between them have to do with the origin of the spiciness. Do you prefer the glaze or the floating sauce? It’s up to you, of course, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that great chicken sandwiches are becoming more commonplace. And that’s fine.
