Let me tell you the secret to making a good espresso martini. That makes the version you pack in a bar so decadent. It’s an espresso.

You can’t help having some kind of coffee in this cocktail. Think drip or instant coffee. It must be a freshly brewed espresso from a real espresso machine.

The strength of the espresso is one aspect, but the creamy character of the cocktail also requires that the espresso is well prepared.

The Kahlua adds a nice cream to the coffee, and the vodka makes it rise! It really is the perfect cocktail. But don’t drink too much before bed.

Once you’ve prepared the espresso, let it cool down to room temperature instead of adding it to a warm shake. Due to the warm mixing, the cocktail is diluted and has a weak taste.

Shake the frozen cocktail in the shaker for at least 15 seconds to get a good mousse head and let it cool down to the right temperature for stretching.
