We all love appetizers and crispy potato chops. In most recipes, they need to be grilled, but not in this one. I’ve made these aloo chops three different ways and I like each method equally.

Yes! You can also prepare these potato snacks without frying them. I baked them flat. You can make them as healthy or as sinful as you want.

Serve them as party snacks, tea snacks, put them in lunchboxes or put them in patties like hamburgers!  Kids love these crispy potato and cheese snacks. The best part is that you can easily eat zucchini secretly, which means they’re also good for your health. So they are also good snacks with potatoes for the kids.

Ingredients

Zucchini: Grated zucchini makes this recipe a healthy potato snack. If you can’t find zucchini, you can use grated bottle/leucchi. However, don’t forget to squeeze out the excess water if you use a grated bottle.

Oil: Any vegetable oil will do, as long as you fry shallow. To make them super healthy, cook these potato snacks in a deep fryer and use an oil spray.

Flour for all purposes: To give the bread a crisp crust, dip it into a layer of liquid batter. If you don’t want to use Maida/APF, you can use arrow powder instead.

Breadcrumbs: The breadcrumbs give a nice crunchy texture. Because the perfect texture you see in my recipe comes from using panko in breadcrumbs.

Spices and condiments : Salt, pepper flakes, parsley, dried herbs, black pepper, coriander leaves.

Method: How do you do?

Preparing these crispy potato snacks is pretty easy. Here’s a step-by-step method for making them.

Triangular mixture of mashed potatoes

Before preparing the chops, mix all the ingredients Boiled potatoes, grated vegetables, spices, etc.

Start with the zucchini on the grill. Set aside the zucchini with large grating holes. You can use a food processor if you like.

In a bowl, put the cooked potatoes, grated zucchini and cheese, parsley, chili flakes, salt, green vegetable mixture, black pepper and coriander leaves. Mix all ingredients well.

To make triangular slices of potatoes

Form the potato wedges into a triangle. You can also make square or round chops.

Grease the palm tree with a little oil. Spread the potato mixture on a flat surface using your fingers to smooth it out.

Use a knife to perfect the edges of the mixture to create a rectangular shape. Put them in the fridge for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, remove the mixture from the pan and, using a knife, cut it first into squares and then into triangles in the middle.

  • First make the dough for the cutlets.
  • In a bowl, put flour, salt and all-purpose water. Mix well to obtain a fine paste.
  • Dip the triangles in the dough to coat them.
  • Cover with breadcrumbs. Shake off excess breadcrumbs.
  • Heat the pan with a little oil.

Small fried potato chops

  • When the oil begins to smoke, carefully add the chops and cook them flat.
  • Turn over and fry on both sides until golden brown.
  • When done, turn off the heat and serve with ketchup or sauce of your choice.

Proven recipe notes and tips

It’s easy to make these homemade triangular potato chops.

  1. It is very important to use the right amount of potatoes and cheese.
  2. Use a mixture of mozzarella and cheddar cheese for the best preparation of this recipe. This gives you the perfect sticky texture and cheesy flavor.
  3. Stop them before you cut them into triangles. It is very important for good form.
  4. I make sure they are well dipped in the flour dough before spreading them on the breadcrumbs. This way I make sure the outside of the potato triangles are golden and crispy.
  5. Press breadcrumbs onto each cheese potato triangle to ensure even cooking.
  6. You can freeze them for later, or roast them finely and fry them golden brown.

How to make healthy potato pancakes

These potato triangles taste best when baked flat. This way they keep their shape and become crispy and delicious.

For healthy potato patties with little or no oil, you can make fried patties or fry these triangular patties in the deep fryer.  The result isn’t quite the same, but it’s still delicious.

The shape may change slightly and the cheese may come out of the triangles. But these baked and fried chops taste delicious.

Triangular fried potato cutlets

  • Spray or brush the potato triangles with oil or baking spray.
  • Preheat the oven for 5 minutes at 200C.
  • Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until crumbs are crisp and cheese is melted.
  • Your schnitzels are ready.

French fries in fryer:

  1. Air preheater for preheating up to 200°C.
  2. Brush the chops with a thin layer of oil or use a spray bottle to apply the oil.
  3. Place the chops in a single layer in the roasting basket.
  4. Bake in small portions, depending on your airfryer, for 7-8 minutes or until crisp and golden brown.

Can chops be prepared and frozen in advance?

You can prepare these potato snacks in advance and freeze them easily. And these homemade frozen chops are healthy and delicious. They are so much better than store-bought frozen chops.

  • There is some oil in the heated pan. When the oil begins to smoke, carefully add the chops and cook them flat.
  • Turn over and cook until both sides are golden brown.
  • When done, turn off the heat and serve with ketchup, chutney or a sauce of your choice.
